Ibn Ziad ‘s tyranny has become a symbol in Persian folklore and [[taʿziya]]. Allusion to his deceitful character can be found in proverbs (Dehkhoda, I, p. 11), and he figures in nearly all [[taʿziya]]s connected with Karbala.
