Part 1: INTRODUCTION OF IMAM HUSAYN IN LECTURES ON ASHURA[edit | edit source]
The tragedy of Ashura occurred (61 A.H) 50 years after the passing away of the Holy Prophet (11 A.H). The hero of this tragedy was Husain bin Ali bin Ali Talib the grandson of the Holy Prophet. The Holy Imam Husain was martyred on the l0th of Muharrum (Ashura day 61 A.H) at the plains of Karbala (Iraq). The significance of this tragedy has been realized by a large number of people, and deep and unbiased study of the history of Ashura will convince the reader that Karbala has put into the shade the atrocities the world has ever seen.
Part 2: Introduction[edit | edit source]

It mentions the revolution, brought about by Imam Husain and the martyrdom of his kith, and kin to make the readers understand the reality of the events which have taken place in the world of Islam. Then with a Qur'anic verse goes to show that ideologically Islam is a perfect system.

Part 4: The Successful Effort[edit | edit source]
Dr. Husaini Bahishti in this part talks about man who is compound of various passions and desires and examines some pre-conditions for a successful effort which it is necessary to know and to keep in mind in the struggle of life. He believes that every one of us may have seen the examples of aimless effort in our own life or in the life of our nation or we may have read about them in books. He says It is necessary that the target and aim of the effort should be clear and unambiguous and at the same time it should be sublime and meaningful. At the end of this part, he presents some points about the event of Karbala which are instructive and worthy of attention.
Part 5: Jihad and Martyrdom[edit | edit source]
Ustaz Moosvi in this part examines one of the important Islamic subjects in Islam, Jihad. If we study Quranic verses carefully and in a proper manner, we will notice that every time after a few verses there occurs a verse which contains an order regarding Jihad. On the one hand fighting and Jihad has been mentioned on one ground or another in the verses containing religious, social and moral principles and orders, and on the other hand the propaganda is being carried on for a few centuries that Islam spread through sword and made advances. The author discusses the issue of whether the early Islamic wars were defensive or offensive.
Part 6: What Made Imam Husain Rise?[edit | edit source]
Dr. Ibrahim Aayati in this part, speaks about the reasons of the rising of Imam Husain. He believes that Imam Husain assessed the condition of the Islamic society in 60 AB. and came to the conclusion that the Muslims had deviated so much that their reformation and the removal of the dangerous social evils were not possible without such a rising and such a sacred movement.
