In the Battle of Karbala

It is stated in Manaqib, that Abu Bakr bin Ali stepped into the battlefield reciting the following Rajaz: “My Master Ali is the possessor of numerous excellences, from the progeny of Hashim the gracious, the beneficent, the pre-eminent, this is Hussain the son of the Messenger Prophet, we defend him with our sharpened swords, may my life be your ransom O honorable brother”. There is a hadith from Imam al-Baqir according to which a man from the Hamdan tribe martyred him.[1] However, some scholars hold that Abu Bakr's corpse was found in a creek, and so it is not known who martyred him[2]. According to some sources, his grave is located in the mass grave of Hashimid martyrs in the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Hussain near his burial place.[3]

In Bihar al-Anwar, the name of Abu Bakr b. Ali is mentioned in one of Imam al-Hussain ziyarat.[4]
