Arthur de Gobineau was a French writer, social thinker and ethnologist.

Biography

Arthur de Gobineau, in full Joseph-Arthur, Comte de Gobineau, was born on 14th of July, 1816 in Ville-d’Avray, France in aristocratic royalist family. He was well educated in languages and Oriental culture.

He lived in Tehran as diplomat for years. He is interested in religious ceremony and [[Ta’zia]] and he devotes about 100 pages of his book, religion and philosophies in central Asia, to this topic. This book was published in Paris in 1865. He was retired from the diplomatic corps in 1876.

His famous theory of racial determinism had an enormous influence in European Academia. He died on October 13, 1882 in Turin, Italy.
