Baqir Sharif Qureshi (Arabic: باقر شريف القرشي) (2012-1925) is a Shiite researcher, historian, and author from Iraq.

Biography

Baqir Sharif al-Qarashi was born in 1344 AH to the well-known family of Qarashi in Najaf. His grandfather, Madhi al-Qarashi, belonged to a tribe in Ja’afaria in Kut, Iraq. Like his father, Al-Shaykh Sharif al-Qarashi, he was also a scholar and researcher of Islam.

Al-Qarashi studied at the Najaf seminary, where he attended lectures of various prominent scholars including Ayatollah Marashi Najafi, Al-Sayyid Muhsin al Hakim Tabatabai and Ayatollah Abul Qasim al-Khoei. His notes from the advanced lectures of Ayatollah al-Khoei still exist and are kept safely in the Library Al-Imam al-Hasan in Najaf.

He is the author of more than 50 books, including books on the biographies of the fourteen Infallibles. His book “Al-Amal wa huqu al-amil fi Islam” has been translated into ten languages.

He died on 16th June 2012 due to a severe illness at the age of 80 in Najaf.

  • Founded a library under the name of “Al-Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba” in Najaf along with his brother Hadi al-Qarashi.

Research and Analysis on the Life of Imam Hussain

In his book, “The Life of Imam Husayn (‘a) Research and Analysis, Al-Qarashi analyses the entire events that took place in the life of Imam Hussain from his birth in the family of Prophet in Medina to the events of the Karbala massacre and its aftermath. He also mentions the effects of Imam Husayn’s revolution that led to the popular uprisings eventually resulting in the end of the oppressive rule of the Umayyads.
