Name and Lineage[edit | edit source]

Abd Allah b. Azrah was from Khath'am tribe and his name is also mentioned in sources as Abd Allah b. 'Urwa, 'Urwa b. Abd Allah, and Azra b. Abd Allah.

In the Battle of Karbala[edit | edit source]

In the Battle of Karbala, Abd Allah b. Azra was among the archers of the army of 'Umar b. Sa'd. It is narrated that he shot 12 arrows toward the army of Imam.

On the Day of Ashura, he shot an arrow towards Ja'far b. Aqil's heart and martyred him. In some sources, Bishr b. Sawt is mentioned as the murderer of Ja'far b. Aqil.

In Akhbar al-tiwal, Abd Allah b. Azra was mentioned as the murder of Abd al-Rahman b. Aqil which does not agree with other historical reports.

Destiny[edit | edit source]

After the Uprising of al-Mukhtar broke out in 66/685, he escaped to Basra to join Mus'ab b. Zubayr. His house was ruined by the order of al-Mukhtar al-Thaqafi.
