John Andrew Morrow, Known as Ilyas Islam is from Quebec. He is a Métis Canadian Muslim scholar who embraced Islam at the age of sixteen. He has studied the Islamic sciences in Western academics and completed post-doctoral studies in Arabic in Fez and Rabat.  he received an ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) Leadership Award in 2016.
