Abu Bakr b. Ḥasan b. Ali was among the children of Imam al-Hasan who was martyred after his brother, al-Qasim.
Name and Lineage
Abu Bakr was a son of Imam Hasan b. Ali and his mother was a bondswoman.[1] Some believe that he and Qasim b. al-Hasan were from one mother who is mentioned as Ramla.
Martyrdom
Abul Faraj considers his martyrdom to have occurred before that of Qasim. But Tabari, Ibn Aseer, Shaikh Mufid and others relate his martyrdom after that of Qasim. Abul Faraj quotes from Madaeni, who through his chain of transmitters quotes from Abu Mikhnaf, from Sulayman bin Rashid that Abu Bakr was martyred by an arrow shot by Abd Allah b. Uqba al-Ghanawi. His name is mentioned in Ziyarat al-Nahiya al-Muqaddasa and Ziyarat Rajabiyya and his murderer has been cursed.
