Abd (Arabic: أُمّ وَهب بنت عَبد) (martyred 61/680) was the wife of 'Abd Allah b. 'Umayr al-Kalbi and martyred in the Battle of Karbala. Under the cover of night, she accompanied her husband in a journey to Karbala to join the caravan of Imam al-Hussain. On the Day of 'Ashura, when her husband went to the battlefield, she was determined to accompany him. However, Imam al-Hussain did not allow her to go to the battlefield. َAfter the martyrdom of her husband, while she was wiping blood off his face, Rustam, slave of Shimr b. Dhi l-Jawshan, killed her. She also played an important role in sending her son, Wahb to the battlefield. ==Lineage== Umm Wahb was daughter of 'Abd from the clan of Nimr b. Qasit who lived in Kufa. Her husband, 'Abd Allah b. 'Umayr and her son, Wahb b. 'Abd Allah, were martyred on the day of Ashura. ==In the Battle of Karbala== After her husband went to the battlefield, she decided to join the battlefield. So, she picked a stick to go to the battlefield, but Imam did not give her permission and said that jihad is not obligatory for women. After her husband was martyred, she went to the battlefield and began wiping the blood off her husband’s face. Shimr sent his slave, Rustam, towards her and he hit an iron club at Umm Wahb's head and she was martyred. Umm Wahb also played an important role in sending her son, Wahb to the battlefield. When her son went to the battlefield, returned after fighting for a short time and told his mother, "Are you happy now?" Umm Wahb said, "I will be happy when you become martyred at the feet of Imam al-Hussain." Thus, he went to the battlefield again and fought until he was martyred. ==References== *WikiShia, An online encyclopedia of the school of Ahl al-Bayt Companions of Imam al-Hussain fa:ام وهب همسر عبدالله بن عمیر کلبی
