The book The Psalms of Islam Al-Sahifah al-Kamilah Al-Sajjadiyyah Sajjadiyya is the oldest manual of supplications in Islamic sources that could be easily regarded the best book of principles and values of Islam and in fact the humanity. == About the translator == Sayyid Husayn Muhammad Ja'fari, born in Lucknow, India obtained two PhD degrees, one from the University of Lucknow, and the other from the University of London. During his long teaching career, starting from 1962, he has served at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur; the American University of Beirut; and the Australian National University, Canberra. In 1983 he joined the University of Karachi as founding Director of the Pakistan Study Centre, as well as founding Chair and Professor of Islamic/Pakistan Studies at the Aga Khan University, Karachi. == About the book == This book published in Ansariyan Publications, 2000 (January 1, 2000) and translated from Arabic to English by Sayyid Husayn Muhammad Ja'fari, has 532 pages and best sellers rank of 2,911,628 in Books. The present book is a collection of supplications and whispered prayers composed by the great-grandson of the Prophet. There is a chain of narrators through whom the Sahifa has been preserved and handed down. Just looking through the table of contents of this book shows us the depth it possesses. == Abstract of chapters == === Part 1: Translator's Introduction === In this part, the author examines Al-Sahifat Al-Sajjadiyya. As he mentions, Shi'ite tradition considers it as a book worthy of the utmost veneration, ranking it behind only the Qur'an and `Ali's Nahj al-balagha. Then he talks about the writer of the Sahifa, Ali ibn al-Husayn, and his life in details. === Part 2: Preface === This part concerns the chain of authorities and the subject of the Sahifa in the form of conversation and explains its content. === Part 3: Supplications === This part contains 54 important prayers of Imam, from praise of God (when he began to supplicate, he would begin with praise and laudation of God) up to supplication for the removal of worries. === Part 4: Addenda === This part contains seven additional supplications that follow the numbering of the prayers in the previous section. === Part 5: The Supplications for the Days of the Week === This part contains seven prayers for each day of the week from Sunday to Saturday. === Part 6: Fifteen Whispered Prayers from the Words of Sayyid al-Sajidin === This part contains 15 beautiful whispered prayers by Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn. === Part 7: Treatise on Rights (Risalat al-Huquq) === Imam Zayn al-'Abidin's `Treatise on Rights' is the only work attributed to him other than supplications or relatively short sayings and letters. It elaborates on a well-known saying of the Prophet, which has been transmitted in a rather large number of versions, no doubt because he repeated it in many different contexts. == Source == * Amazon website
