== Biography ==
Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom, born on 17th Rabi as-Sani 1347 AH corresponding to 17 December 1927 AD in Najaf to Ali Bahr al-Uloom, was the 43rd Prime Minister of Iraq and the first President of the Governing Council of Iraq. Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom belonged to a religious, social, and political family that has contributed to building the Iraqi state since 1921. After his initial studies under his father, Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom studied at the Najaf seminary and graduated from there. In 1992, Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom moved to London and remained an active member of the Shia community there. Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom had three sons and four daughters from his marriage with the daughter of Mohammad Hussain Shirazi, the grandson of Mirza Shirazi. Ibrahim Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom, who served as the Iraqi Minister of Oil thrice in the years 2003, 2004, and 2005, and Mohammad Hussain Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom, the Iraqi ambassador to Kuwait are two of Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom's sons. On April 7, 2015, Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom passed away due to kidney failure.
