|Native name=أبوبَکر بن عَلیّ بن اَبیطالِب}}'''Abu Bakr b. Ali'''  was among companions of [[Imam Hussain]] who was martyred at the [[Battle of Karbala]]. It is stated that Abu Bakr b. Ali was the first of [[Ali ibn Abi Talib|Imam Ali]]'s children who stepped in the battlefield on the Day of [[Ashura]] to defend [[Ahl al-Bayt]] and his brother, [[Hussain ibn Ali|Imam al-Hussain]]. 

==Name and Lineage==
His teknonym was Abu Bakr, but his name is not known. His name is said to be Abd Allah or Ubayd Allah or Muhammad al-Asghar. According to the majority of biographers, his mother was Layla, the daughter of Mas'ud al-Nahshali. Abu Bakr had no children.

==In the Battle of Karbala==
It is stated in Manaqib, that Abu Bakr bin Ali stepped into the battlefield reciting the following Rajaz: “My Master Ali is the possessor of numerous excellences, from the progeny of Hashim the gracious, the beneficent, the pre-eminent, this is Hussain the son of the Messenger Prophet, we defend him with our sharpened swords, may my life be your ransom O honorable brother”.
There is a hadith from [[Mohammad al-Baqir|Imam al-Baqir]] according to which a man from the Hamdan tribe martyred him.<ref>Iṣfahānī, ''Maqātil al-ṭālibīyyīn'', p. 86; Bayhaqī, ''Lubāb al-ansāb'', vol. 1, p. 399.</ref> However, some scholars hold that Abu Bakr's corpse was found in a creek, and so it is not known who martyred him<ref>Iṣfahānī, ''Maqātil al-ṭālibīyyīn'', p. 86.Jump up↑</ref>. According to some sources, his grave is located in the mass grave of Hashimid martyrs in the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Hussain near his burial place.<ref>Bayhaqī, ''Lubāb al-ansāb'', vol. 1, p. 399.
